Camp Handy - low elevation along Dungeness Creek

Image
Easy day hike into an old shelter along an absolutely stunningly clear creek with some awesome pools and small falls all along the hike.  6.5 miles and only 751 ft elevation gain to the shelter where we ate lunch and then hiked out. Enchanting understory Gotta love these massive single-log bridges! Unfortunately I didn't get a single shot of any of the pools or falls we saw along the way.

Mt Ellinor, WA October 3, 2022  Drove to the trailhead for Mt Ellinor west of the northern end of Hood Canal in Washington state. The weather was fabulous although a bit of smoke from fires. The trail was short (1.6 miles to the summit) but gains 2444 ft. so is fairly steep. views from the summit The rock here is amazing. Takes me back to those rock climbing days. The views really give you a sense of how big the Park is. As far as we could see, nothing but rugged, wild country and mountains. NE across Lake Cushman Patch of snow on the left horizon is Mt Olympus Decending from the upper saddle An amazing grouse year, they were everywhere!
